Red Betel : The herbal cure of all diseases

 Red betel (Piper crocatum) included in the family Piperaceae, growing vine with heart-like shape of leaf. The leaf appearance is silvery and shiny red. In the red betel leaf there are phytochemical compounds which is contained alkoloid, saponins, tannins and flavonoids. Red betel has long been used by people in Java as a remedy for healing various types of diseases and is part of the custom event. Red betel can be used in fresh, crude drug extracts and capsules. Empirically red betel can cure many diseases such as diabetes mellitus, hepatitis, kidney stones, lower cholesterol, prevent stroke, gout, hypertension, inflammation of the liver,prostate inflammation, eye inflammation, vaginal discharge, ulcers, fatigue, joint pain and soften the skin. Results of preclinical tests in mice with the extract up to a dose of 20 g / kg body weight, safe to eat and no toxic.

The traditional healer has been widely used red betel plant because it has an important chemical to cure various diseases. In the red betel leaf phytochemical compounds contained alkoloid namely, saponins, tannins and flavonoids. From the book "A review of natural products and plants as potential antidiabetic" reported that the Alko-colloidal compounds and flavonoids have hypoglycemic activity or lowering blood glucose levels.

Other chemical constituents contained in the red betel leaf are essential oil, hidroksikavicol, Cavicol, kavibetol, allylprokatekol, karvakrol, eugenol, pcymene, cineole, caryofelen, kadimen estragol, including penena, and phenyl propada. Since Red bettel leaf is cintained by the numbers of chemical compounds that are very useful , red betel leaf has a very large benefits as a drug ingredient. Karvakrol is disinfectant, anti-fungal, which can be used for antiseptic treatment of bad breath and white. Eugenol can be used to reduce pain, while the tannins can be used to treat stomach aches.
